Job Description

Background

Founded by two MIT engineers in 2013, Ultranauts is an onshore quality engineering firm powered by cognitively diverse teams. We offer a broad suite of software and data quality services with specialized capabilities in test automation for software and data pipelines, advanced analytics, and accessibility. Ultranauts has been named a Fast Company World Changing Idea, MIT SOLVE Challenge winner and Interbrand Breakthrough Brand, and our clients include a wide range of F500 enterprises and cutting edge technology companies.

Summary

Ultranauts helps clients develop strategies to build quality into their processes and pipelines to enhance business value, and our quality engineering teams deliver manual and automated tests for new development, data management and data science.

Job Description

Ultranauts is looking to hire a full-time Engagement Manager to join our Data Quality Engineering (DQE) practice and be part of a high growth, high impact services organization. The Ultranauts DQE team helps our clients articulate how data contributes to business value, identify data quality issues, and implement solutions to verify, validate, and monitor data quality.

Engagement Managers help client-facing teams do their job well, and model Ultranauts core values of respect and excellence in a Universal Workplace where cognitively diverse teams are positioned to thrive. The Engagement Manager is responsible for facilitating client engagements from inception to completion, including managing customer relationships, coordinating and facilitating the work of quality engineers and quality analysts, and ensuring project success.

As an Engagement Manager at Ultranauts, you will be accountable for all facets of project execution, including project kickoff, strategizing, project planning, managing schedules, resourcing, and identifying risks & opportunities, while maintaining constant communication with your clients, team, and other internal stakeholders. You will need to be equally comfortable sharing engagement strategy with senior executives, defining project requirements with business leads, helping engineers and analysts unblock technical challenges, and driving day-to-day project execution with your team.

Engagement Managers in the DQE practice are hands-on and comfortable with an environment that requires constant learning. You will manage either one large project or up to three smaller projects in parallel. We work in an agile environment, which requires you to help teams monitor and adapt to changing understanding and circumstances, and pivot smoothly as needed.

Performance evaluation for Engagement Managers is based on delivery success, customer satisfaction, team well-being, project-level financial results, and contributions to establishing and continually improving systematic, repeatable processes, especially within the DQE Practice.

Key Position Benefits

The chance to work with talented and motivated colleagues
The opportunity to contribute to a fast-growing, innovative, mission-driven company
Focus on continuous learning and career growth
Support for team wellbeing and mental health
Flexibility as the norm and a 100% remote team
Inclusive workplace practices such as Inclusive Agile

Responsibilities

Develop client relationships. Respond to client needs, manage expectations, share regular updates, provide insights and recommendations, and identify opportunities for growth.
Set up engagements for success. Work with Ultranauts engineers and analysts to gain understanding of clients’ business needs and technology ecosystems, define engagement strategy and priorities, lead project kick-off, and maintain a sustainable work rhythm.
Provide leadership for remote teams of quality analysts and quality engineers. Ensure that objectives and priorities are clear and relevant, facilitate collaboration and forward progress, and supervise day-to-day execution. Ensure adherence to standards and practices, ensure the team is equipped to deliver on time and within budget, and keep internal stakeholders updated.
Articulate the relationship between project activities, project outcomes, and business value. This requires knowing enough about the technical aspects of the solution strategy and deliverables to effectively support the team in client interactions.
Contribute to the growth of the DQE practice and the company by sharing knowledge and lessons learned from engagements, continually improving best practices, and contributing to methods that will systematically advance workforce capabilities.
Contribute to building a Universal Workplace, where cognitively diverse teams can thrive, and model the organization’s positive, supportive culture of respect and excellence.

Experience in client-facing roles (in IT/management consulting) with accountability for project success, managing remote teams across multiple time zones.
Ability to seek out and interact with client stakeholders at all levels in both technical and non-technical roles to understand how data contributes to business value.
Ability to effectively coordinate and collaborate with DQE Practice leaders and other internal subject matter experts to successfully leverage and continually improve Ultranauts tools, processes, and resources.
Ability to work independently to coordinate and manage the work of remote staff with varying communication styles and technical skill levels, balance priorities, help the team meet deadlines, and articulate and escalate needs and issues.
