Job Description
The company has an immediate and challenging opportunity for a Utility Rates Analyst in the Distribution Services Department. The preferred location for this position is in the GA corporate office but a remote arrangement may be considered. This position will conduct valuable analysis in a wide range of areas including cost of service, rate development and evaluation, and general financial analysis.
Assisting Project Managers and other consulting staff with data collection, and with independently developing and utilizing detailed spreadsheets and computer models for rate and cost of service evaluation, rate administration, as well as financial, statistical, and demand-side management analysis.
Assisting Project Managers and consulting staff with the development of technical project reports and PowerPoint presentations for clients.
Interacting with clients to discuss project issues and to collect project data and other pertinent information
Performing research on matters such as electric utility rates and marketing programs, and results of regulatory proceedings.
Using programs such as SAS and Microsoft Excel to perform statistical analysis of data.
Providing limited supervision to Department Associate Analyst and Cooperative Student positions.
The Distribution Services Department provides clients with expertise primarily in the areas of electric utility cost of service, rate design, load forecasting, benefit-cost analysis of utility programs and other areas including financial forecasts, evaluation of service policies, competitive analyses, and other financial matters. These core services of the firm are utilized by clients to ensure that their rates for the sale of electricity are sufficient to meet their financial requirements, recover cost in an equitable manner and help ensure that they are competitive as possible with other electric suppliers and energy sources. In addition, services provided by the Department assist clients in their planning for future resource requirements and in developing cost-beneficial energy efficiency and marketing programs.
Experience and Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Statistics, Business, or Related Field.
Minimum 3 years of related work experience (strongly preferred in the utility industry).
Must have knowledge of either electric utility cost of service and rate design or other utility economic/financial analysis preferred.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access).
Effective oral/written communication skills for working with clients.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
Working knowledge of SAS or similar statistical software beneficial
